About Presentation (Abstract)

The introduction of a number of new legislative requirements for recordkeeping in Victoria (beginning with the Electronic Transactions Act in 2000, moving through privacy legislation and most recently the amendments to the Crimes Act and Evidence Act to criminalise certain forms of document destruction) have imposed new challenges for organisations in both the public and private sector as they attempt to balance risk, compliance and practicality. This presentation will consider how Victorian organisations can manage this brave new world of requirements so that it works to the organisation’s ultimate advantage.
