David Leaney is a Principal Consultant with Clear Lead Pty Ltd – an independent Australian company providing leading professional services in consulting and project management. David has worked in England, Belgium and the US, and has extensive experience with public and private sector clients in Australia. 

David is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management and a Certified Management Consultant, with Masters’ degrees in Technology and Business.

 

 

About Workshop
Any organisation struggles with trade-off decisions for resource allocation, funding and prioritisation between Business As Usual (BAU) and “change” projects.  The ratio might be 70:30 or 90:10, but the majority is nearly always with BAU.  However, many questions remain:
  • Which corporate initiatives get priority?
  • Who gets the resources? (staff, systems, executive time)
  • How do you balance a portfolio?
  • How is the performance of the various initiatives tracked and evaluated?
  • Who makes the decisions to stop initiatives and when?

This presentation is designed to discuss the challenges of portfolio management in the context of corporate performance and particularly corporate governance.  The presentation will discuss people, process and technology aspects of portfolio management, and make recommendations on methodologies for corporate governance.
